How to become a Biotechnology Expert

Biotechnology is about understanding and manipulating the genetic, physical and chemical attributes of cells, tissues and organisms and using this knowledge to design practical applications of the same. It aims to study the workings of biological organisms at the cellular, molecular levels as well as entire organisms to understand how they perform their tasks. This information is used to further enhance the lives of people by developing better biofuels or creating new medicines.  A biotechnology expert may specialise in any area of biotechnology such as biochemistry, genetics, virology, pharmacology, molecular biology, microbial sciences, stem cell research, among others.   Biotechnology experts find employment opportunities in a wide range of industries such as drug and pharmaceutical research facilities, chemicals, food processing, environment control, energy, waste management & bioprocessing industries, government-funded laboratories, horticulture and agricultural companies, hospitals as well as universities.
