Who is Computer Information System Manager?
The information systems manager looks after the technological requirements of the organisation. They identify the needs and work to meet them. They have the authority to take computer related decisions on the behalf of the company. Different schemes based on the technological requirements of the company are made, discussed with the executives and implemented. They direct and coordinate all the computer related activity in the company. It requires a significant amount of formal education. Different types of computer information system managers, based on their specialised functions, are Chief information officer, Information Technology directors, Chief Technology officer, IT security manager etc.

Managers of computer and information systems plan, organise, and supervise research, as well as support computer-related operations in organisations. They assist in the establishment of technical and business objectives, as well as the development of specific plans for achieving these objectives. They must have a thorough understanding of both technology and business. There are numerous types of computer and information system managers. Chief technology officers (CTOs), for example, keep an eye out for the most innovative and cutting-edge technologies and create a strategy for how to use them effectively to benefit the business. Management information systems (MIS) or information technology (IT) directors ensure that an organisation's employees have the computer resources they need to conduct their jobs properly, as well as that clients have the tools they need to access the company's products and services. Project managers create requirements, budgets, and schedules for information technology projects within their companies.
- Evaluate the user and organisation technological needs and suggest appropriate software/hardware or program to ensure that their needs are met.
- Assessing the expenditure of the new intended technologies and reasoning it with the funding and requirements of the organisation.
- Devising a plan to introduce the appropriate technology, direct installation and their maintenance
- Developing and managing IT budgets
- Ensuring the security of a company's valuable information stored in the network and devices. Devising integrity and security backup plans.
- Assessing the short and long-term personal needs of IT department
- Manage and coordinate the work of IT professionals under the department, including computer system analyst software developers information security analyst and computer support specialist
- Negotiate with the vendors to provide the best technology services for the organisation with reasonable expenditure.
- Constant evaluation of system functions.
- Handle the software licensing laws, ensuring their validity period
- Provide assistance and guide the employees for the optimum usage of the new advancements and technologies, give feedback on their performances etc.
- Constant revision of the technologies used, judging the possibility of benefit from a new technology, updating the systems and networks from time to time.
- Training new staff of the IT department as well as others.

- To assign the co-workers with different jobs, the manager should have the ability to identify the people with aptitude for each job.
