BSc in Bioinformatics and data science is a 3 years undergraduate course. It is a Science course that inculcates knowledge of Bioinformatics and Statistical analysis, processing, storage of biological information using computer science. It combines Biological Science with Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence to meet the growing problem solving needs of Modern Industries. The course covers a wide range of fundamentals related to computer science and biology like C++ language and programming, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics, Biology and Genetic Engineering, Bio molecular sequence analysis, Physical chemistry, PERL programming, Proteins and proteomics, Biochemical and Molecular biotechnology etc. Upon completion of the programme candidates can expect to get job roles as Science Technician, Bioinformatic Scientist, Bioinformatics Analysts, Bioinformatics software developer, Researcher, Professor and can get placements in large Tech companies like Oracle, Biocon, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Wipro, Mahindra Tech etc. Starting salaries can be expected to range between 5 to 12 Lakhs per annum.
