Course Description

Diploma in Nautical Science is a course which deals with the 3 main work of ship: Navigation and ship handling, safe operation of a ship and shipboard administration and the handling, loading and care of cargoes. The theoretical subjects include Applied Mathematics, Communication Skills, Naval Architecture, Nautical Physics, Nautical Electronics, Expedition Planning, Cargo Work, Collision Prevention, Marine Communication and Ship Operation Technology, and in addition to this, candidates gain practical experience in safety, personal survival, rescue and fire-fighting. The course prepares the candidates with the knowledge and training required to pursue careers as Ship’s Officer, Harbour Master/Pilot, Marine Surveyor, Maritime Studies Lecturer and other related areas. The course also covers the vibration monitoring of submerged vehicles and structures.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have qualified 10+2 (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) or its equivalent from a recognized board of education with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
