MPhil in Sericulture is a research program with duration of 2 years. The Course constitutes detailed study and research of Sericulture, that is Silk farming. The curriculum includes detailed study of cultivation of Mulberry plants and Silk worms and roles associated with it. The course covers a wide range of contents that is significant to Sericulture like Mulberry cultivation, Silk rearing, Integrated pest and diseases management in Mulberry, Life cycle of Silkworm, Integrated method for control of pest and disease in silkworm, Nutrient Management and Weed control, Silk Production and Marketing etc. Upon completion of the MPhil course, candidates can expect to get job roles as Sericulture Manager Dyeing operator, Industrial Project Manager, Field Officer, Agricultural Manager, etc in Retail and Agro industries. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 2 to 5 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete PG level degree related to Sericulture and many reputed Universities have their own Entrance examinations followed by interview.
