Course Description

M.Sc. Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology is a 2 Year Postgraduate Programme designed to provide an understanding of the roles of plants, animals and microorganisms in agriculture production as well as the development of food and bio-products. Training is provided in areas such as bioactive compounds, industrial bioprocesses, microbial physiology, fermentation technology, monitoring and control of fermentation, biotechnology, types of bioreactors etc. Graduates can opt for higher studies or take up technical and managerial roles in sectors involving general microbiology, environmental science, medical science, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals etc. Laboratory work could be taken up in research organisations, hospitals, food and beverage industries etc.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have completed Bachelor’s Degree in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with a Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
