Course Description

Msc in Earth Science is a Postgraduate 2 years Science based course with a total 4 semesters. The course gives students both in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of physical and chemical constitution of the Earth and its atmosphere. It also imparts students with knowledge regarding natural phenomenon like Earthquakes, Climate change, Hurricanes and Volcanos to warn people of possible disasters. The course covers important topics like Geology, Atmosphere, Biosphere, Hydrosphere, Lithosphere, Pedosphere and other equivalent subdisciplines and make extensive use of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Geography to build quantitative understanding of Earth’s activities Candidates can work as Meteorologists, Seismologists, Hydrologists, Climatologists, Geoscientists etc and can have scope in Research and Development fields related to Planetary activities in Private or Government institutions. In Corporations, Candidates can expect Jobs in Mining and Petroleum industries that make use of Geological Surveys to discover and excavate Minerals, Petroleum and other resources from Earth’s crust. Starting salary range between 2 Lakhs to 5 Lakhs per annum. For Eligibility, Students need to complete Bsc in Geology with 60% aggregate for admissions in reputed Universities. Admissions depend on Academic credentials, as well as cracking JAM entrance exams. Minimum Fees per year cost from around a little less than one lakh to 5-6 lakhs depending on the University.

The candidate should have completed Bachelor’s Degree in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with a Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
