Course Description
The study deals with theory of elasticity solutions for all the structural elements. The course is conducted through the mechanics of bar, beam, two-dimensional plane stress / strain, axisymmetric and three-dimensional configurations. The analysis is later extended to all configurations made of thin walled metallic structures. The study is concerned with mechanical behavior of lightweight structures used for aircrafts and spacecrafts which are normally subjected to cyclic loads. The study emphasizes the characterization of advanced materials, material and structural stability, computational material/structural design, thermo-mechanical and electro-mechanical interactions, structural dynamics, multiscale modeling, multifunctional structures, morphing structures, aeroelasticity, structural health management and design optimization.
