Course Description

M.Tech Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering deals with the analysis, design and construction of earth and supported structures, Master of Technology in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering course centres around the study of the behaviour of different kinds of soil under different circumstances along with soil-water interactions. The course is associated with the investigation and study of subsurface materials and their conditions by applying the principles and concepts of rock mechanics in order to design foundations, earth dams, temporary excavation support and also route selection for railways and highways among other applications. Candidates also learn about the strategies and technologies required for the clean up of contaminated soil and groundwater and develop management systems for the same. The course prepares the candidates to utilize this knowledge for the application of environmental problems, such as waste containment, disposal and construction of landfills, soil permeation and soil improvement.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have completed Bachelor’s Degree (B.E/B.Tech) in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate and a valid score in GATE. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
