M.Tech in Mechanical Design is a research-oriented Post graduate Engineering specialisation course. The programme provides a detailed knowledge in Design, Fabrication and Testing of Mechanical Systems through using complex Scientific and Mathematical techniques. Some of the popular subjects covered are Finite Element Method, Mechanical Vibrations, Engineering Design, Mechanical Behaviour of Engineering Materials, Mechanism Analysis and Synthesis etc. Upon completion of this M.Tech course candidates can pursue careers as Mechanical Design Engineers, Product development Managers, Research Engineers etc for MNCs like Tata Motors, Bajaj, Bosch, L&T, Mahindra etc. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 5 to 8 Lakhs per year depending on the job position and type of company.
