Course Description

M.Tech. Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals or Master of Technology in Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals is a postgraduate Petroleum Engineering programme. The programme is to provide graduates with the broad-based training required for sound refining and processing of crude oil. Crude oil and gas are of little use in their raw state. Their value lies in what is created from them: fuels, lubricating oils, waxes, asphalt and petrochemicals. After the course, students will be able to evaluate oil and gas hydrocarbon structures, Learn and understand various separation/fractionation methods employed in refining crude oil, Study secondary petroleum refining processes to improve yields and know how molecules are cracked by processes like catalytic, thermal and hydrocracking. The course provides opportunities for you to learn about the general economics of the energy sector, oil exploration and production, as well as renewable energy systems. Graduates of this programme will be well prepared to help technology-intensive organisations make important decisions in view of vast amounts of information by adopting, combining, implementing and executing the right technologies.
