Course Description

M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering is a Post graduate Engineering specialisation course of 2 years that is research oriented. The programme provides a detailed knowledge in civil engineering aspects concerned with the functions of earth materials. It uses the principles of soil and rock mechanics for the solution to engineering problems and design. The discipline has applications in sectors like military, mining, petroleum, ocean and coasts etc. The course would provide students with a comprehensive introduction to core engineering subjects, Real-life case studies and worked examples, key learning aims, revision points and chapter summaries etc. Upon completion of this M.Tech course candidates can expect to get job roles of Geotechnical engineers and Technical consultants in Infrastructure companies and Government/Municipality Departments dedicated to infrastructure development. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 4 to 12 Lakhs per year depending on the job position and type of company. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete BE/BTech with 50% aggregate followed by qualifying the GATE exams. Fees in Universities are somewhere between 60k to 3 Lakhs INR per annum depending on the institutions.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have completed Bachelor’s Degree in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with a Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
