Course Description

PhD in Clinical Microbiology is a Doctoral level thesis programme of 3 years. Clinical Microbiology basically is about the advanced study of microorganisms and their structure, metabolism, functions and their activities. The course covers important research studies in Microbial Physiology and Metabolism, Virology, immunology, Recombinant DNA Technology, Microbial Genetics, Plant-Pathogen Interaction, Microbial Pathogenicity. The scope is very bright with candidates having the potential to become Laboratory Technologist/assistant, Lab Technical Specialist, Medical Technologist etc in various Health organisations, Pharmaceutical industries, Food and Beverage companies etc. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 6 Lakhs to 15 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete Masters in related Biological Science discipline. Most Universities set their own criteria of minimum 55% to 60% marks and students are also expected to qualify the UGC NET or GATE entrance exams. Average Fees for the course is between 20K to 3 Lakhs INR per annum depending on the institution.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters or M.Phil. degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
