Course Description

PhD in Horticulture is a Doctoral level thesis programme of 3 years. Ph.D. in Horticulture is comprehensive study in techniques that is used in preserving the nutritional value, increase production rates and overall quality of Vegetable products. The course covers important research studies in topics like Advances in Production of Vegetable Crops, Growth Regulation of Vegetable Crops, Genomics and Bioinformatics, Biotic and Abiotic Stress Management in vegetable crops. The scope is very bright with candidates having the potential to pursue jobs as Horticulturist researcher, Vegetable Food Quality manager, vegetable production manager etc in various Health organisations, Agro-industries and Food packaging companies etc. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 4 Lakhs to 15 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete Masters in related Biological Science discipline. Most Universities set their own criteria of minimum 55% to 60% marks and students are also expected to qualify the UGC NET or GATE entrance exams. Average Fees for the course is between 20K to 3 Lakhs INR per annum depending on the institution.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters or M.Phil. degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
