Course Description
The study of Perfusion Technology focuses on subjects like physiology and the pathology of the lungs and the allied respiratory organs of the human body. Candidates are equipped with support and assumption of the function of the lungs and the heart during surgical procedures. Candidates learn to monitor and adjust the heart-lung machine that mimics the work of the patient’s heart when they are undergoing surgery. They monitor readings of the machine, control the equipment and also adjust the level of chemicals and gases in the patient’s blood. The study examines the flow of blood (and other fluids) through the circulatory system or lymphatic system to an organ or tissue.
