Course Description

M. Phil. Food Science & Nutrition is a 2 years postgraduate course. The course curriculum covers topics like Types of nutrition research studies, Advances in Food Science and chemistry, Water and ice- structure and properties, water activity and storage life of foods, phase transition of foods containing water, water – solution interactions, Mass transfer operations - properties of air-water vapor mixture, Advances in food processing technology, Food biotechnology and safety, Special Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, etc. The course takes a research based approach. On completion of the course, one can work as Food and Nutrition Application Scientist, Dietitian, Food R&D Scientist, Food Technologist, Sports Nutrition Manager, etc. Applicants can further go into research or become a lecturer.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
