Course Description

M.Phil. Indian Music is a 2 years postgraduate course. The course curriculum covers topics like Elaborate treatment of vilamvita and Drute Khyalas on five Ragas, Brief treatment with one composition of Ragas remained, Meaning and Sources of Research in Indian Music, Instrumental Music: Elaborate treatment of Masitkhani and Razakhani Gat (with Alap etc.) in five Ragas, Brief treatment with one composition of the rest of the Ragas, etc. The course takes a research based approach. On completion of the course, one can work as Music Therapist, Composer, Music Librarian, Band Master, Artist, etc. Applicants can further go into research or become a lecturer.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
