Course Description

M.Tech. Laser & Electro Optics or Master of Technology in Laser & Electro Optics is a postgraduate Electronics Engineering course. Lasers and electro-optics is a field of research leading to constant breakthroughs. Indeed, tremendous advances have occurred in optical components and systems since the invention of the laser in the late 50s, with applications in almost every imaginable field of science including control, astronomy, medicine, communications, measurements, etc. This course provides a detailed introduction to the basic physics and engineering aspects of lasers, as well as to the design and operational principles of a wide range of optical systems and electro-optic devices. The course deals with the fundamentals of laser physics, the characteristics of laser radiation, and discusses individual types of laser, including optically pumped insulating crystal lasers, atomic gas lasers, molecular gas lasers and semiconductor lasers. The electro-optic part deals with topics such as fundamentals of non-linear optics, parametric processes and electro-optic and acoustic-optic devices.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have completed B.E. / B.Tech Degree in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
