Course Description

PhD in Agrometeorology is a Doctoral level course of 3 years. The Course is a thesis programme that deals with the study and research on Earth’s Climate and Weather and its direct or indirect effects on Agriculture. The course covers a wide range of fundamental subjects related to Agrometeorology like Meteorology and Climatology, Weather modification and risk management, Crop weather models, Climate change and sustainable development, Weather forecasting, Mathematics in agriculture and Biology etc. Upon completion of the PhD course candidates can expect to get job roles as Senior Agricultural Scientists, Climate and Soil Scientists, Agronomy Officers in various Government forecast and Research departments. In Private sector Candidates can expect jobs like Corporate Agronomist, Area Sales Manager etc. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 4 to 7 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete a Master’s degree in Agricultural Science with minimum 55% aggregate marks and many reputed Universities have their own Entrance examinations followed by interviews. Fees in Universities are somewhere between 10K o 2 Lakhs INR depending on the institutions.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters or M.Phil. degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
