Course Description

PhD in Genetics and Plant breeding is a Doctoral level course of 3 years. The Course is a thesis programme that deals with the study and research of Physiology, Reproduction and Genetics in Plants. The course covers a wide range of fundamental subjects related to Plant Genetics like Biogenetics, Breeding analysis in plants, Applications of Genetics, Principles of genetics, Biotechnology applications etc. Upon completion of the PhD course candidates can expect to get job roles as Cytogeneticians, Scientists, Breeders, University Professors in both private and government sectors. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 4 to 10 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete a Master’s degree in Biology related stream with minimum 55% aggregate marks and many reputed Universities have their own Entrance examinations followed by interviews. Fees in Universities are somewhere between 10K to 2 Lakhs INR depending on the institutions.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters or M.Phil. degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
