Course Description
MA Clinical Psychology offers candidates the option of finishing two courses in child and adolescent therapy and two courses in psychiatric rehabilitation, which concentrate on working with adults who have serious mental problems. Clinical psychology represents the largest sub field of psychologists.
The course helps candidates in procuring the comprehension and capability in research, psychological theory and practice. However, emphasis is put on evidence-based treatments, developmental psychopathology, community psychology, dissemination, and program assessment with children, adolescents and families from assorted backgrounds.
Through the master’s degree course, the candidates are conferred with skill in the assessment, treatment, and diagnosis of problems and prevention of the behavioral or emotional problems. Some of these problems include: stress, anxiety, and depression, adjustment to physical illness, relationship difficulties and substance abuse.
This course is suitable for candidates who can carry out clinical and academic assessments in adult health psychology, family therapy settings, and psychological disorders in adults and children. Candidates must have analytical skills and problem-solving abilities such as developing hypotheses, thinking your way around problems, and designing experiments to address questions being inquired.
Candidates should have possessed the skills like decision-making, judgement and questioning skills; the ability to select, identify, organise and communicate information and data. The program is beneficial for further research studies like M.Phil. or Ph.D. as they provide good base for it. Candidates can also have job offer in some sub-specialty sector including child mental health, substance abuse treatment and health psychology.
