Course Description
PhD in Anaesthesiology is a Doctoral level course of 3 years. The course deals with study and research in the field of Anaesthesia which is preoperative care of patients before or after surgery.
Concepts or topics related to Anaesthesiology like Physiology of Anaesthesia, Biochemistry, Defensive Anaesthesia, Post-Anaesthesia Care Rooms, Pharmacology of Anaesthesia, Metabolic Response to Trauma & Stress are studied in depth and there are research papers produced on these concepts by aspiring candidates.
Upon completion of the PhD course candidates can expect to get placements as Anaesthesiologists, Medical Consultant, Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetists in Healthcare Centres and Nursing Homes. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 5 to 8 Lakhs per annum depending on the type of organisation and job position.
Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete a Master’s degree or MPhil in any Biology related stream like MSc in Nursing or Biology, with minimum 55% aggregate marks and many reputed Universities have their own Entrance examinations followed by interviews. Fees in Universities are somewhere between 20K to 2 Lakhs INR depending on the institutions
