Course Description

PhD in pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry is a Doctoral level 3 years course that deals with study and research in the field of biotechnology and also medicines or drugs derived from Microbes, Plants and Animals. The course covers a wide range of fundamental subjects in pharmacognosy as well as phytochemistry like Natural Product Drug Discovery, Medical Ethnobotany, Biomedical and Molecular Toxicology, Biomolecular Sciences etc. Upon completion of the PhD course, candidates can expect to get job placements as Drug researcher, Biochemists and Biophysicists, Natural Sciences Managers etc in Drug and Pharmaceutical industries like Serum Institute of India, Johnson and Johnsons, Pfizer, Astrazeneca etc. Students can even become senior Professors in Universities. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 4 to 12 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete a Masters degree in Pharmacy with minimum 55% aggregate marks. Fees in Universities are somewhere between 20K o 20 Lakhs INR depending on the institutions

Eligibilty

The candidate should have Masters or M.Phil. degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
