Course Description
The study of Biotechnology demonstrates the utilisation of biological systems, biomolecular processes and living organisms for the development of various products and technologies. This course focuses on engaging in young minds the development of such products in order to combat debilitating and rare diseases, reduce our environmental footprint, feed the hungry, use less and cleaner energy, and have safer, cleaner and more efficient industrial manufacturing processes. The study enhances the use of biotech in rising crop herbicide tolerance and facilitates the use of more environmentally sustainable farming practices. Candidates also discover the use of biotech in pharmaceutical development to food production and the treatment of polluting waste. The study also allows expansion of research in the development of traditional pharmaceuticals and monoclonal antibodies that stop the progress of a disease.
