Course Description

Geriatric Physiotherapists help elderly patients achieve or maintain high levels of physical health as they age by focusing on ailments like arthritis, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, and joint soreness. Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) Geriatric Physiotherapy is a 2 years post graduate degree in the field of physiotherapy with geriatric as it’s specialization. The course covers topics like Review of Theories of ageing, concepts of ageing, physiology, and exercise physiology, assessment of various geriatric, musculo-skeletal, OBG, neurological, cardio-respiratory conditions, Clinical examination in general and detection of movement dysfunction, Principles of pathological investigations and imaging techniques related to multi-system disorders with interpretation, Arthro Kinesiology, sensory motor changes & adaptations in the geriatric population, etc.

Eligibilty

The candidate should have completed BPT or B.Sc. Physiotherapy in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
